In its research on Korea’s liquor consumption trend, the National Tax Service found that liquors with lower alcohol content are increasingly popular among Koreans. This is well evidenced by the fact that people consume more beer and fruit wines that contain less alcohol, while people drink less soju that has a relatively high level of alcohol. For the recent couple of years, soju manufacturers have produced lighter soju that has less alcohol, encouraging the consumption of “well-being” drinks among the health-conscious public.
