NTS Gives 20 Percent of the Amount for Reporting Refusal to issue Cash Receipts

The
National Tax Service has changed the Reward-for-Information program which rewards
informants for reporting the refusals to issue cash receipts from a fixed-amount
system to a fixed-rate one, thus giving informants with 20 percent of the reported
amount.

Until
now, the NTS has paid 50,000 won per case, regardless of the amount reported.

The
recent change is aimed at boosting the efficiency of the bounty program and
encouraging people to report high amount transactions.

With
the new system in place, when 20 percent of the reported amount is less than 10,000
won, informants are paid 10,000 won. The reward ceiling is 500,000 won per case
and 2 million won per year.

For
the transactions worth less than 5,000 won, income deductions are available
but bounty payments are not made.
