Jeon, Goonpyo completed his two-day visit to the General Department of Taxation
in Vietnam on May 18, 2007. In a regular annual meeting with Commissioner Nguyen
Van Ninh, Commissioner Jeon had asked for more attention to be paid in providing
guidance to Korean companies on how to file VAT refund claims in Vietnam, to
which Commissioner Nguyen responded by offering to hold a seminar explaining
the Vietnamese tax laws particularly for the Korean audience.
During
the 5th annual commissioner-level exchange, Commissioner Nguyen expressed a
keen interest in Korea’s tax auditing methods, resource development, Cash Receipt
System, and recent developments.
Recognizing
the benefits of a continued relationship, the two tax heads agreed to extend
the duration of the Bilateral Exchange Agreement for another five years and
the scope to include exchanges at the regional and front-line levels.
